Do No Harm

A life for a life.
One of which you dearly love.

Could you make the selection? And act on it?

A pulse-pounding ride, as much any parent’s worst nightmare as it is the most dastardly decision ever faced between the pages, this book will have you racing to read on, sickly-sure the ending will offer some relief. Don’t count on it!

With fiendish pacing and in voices alternating between three main first-person POV characters, the reader bears witness to the frenetic terror of lives (the character’s own, as well as their fear for others) hovering on the edge of annihilation – with tensions held taut relentlessly, right up to the ruthlessly-satisfying out-of-nowhere finale.

  • Dr. Anna Jones, our primary narrator, is a cardiothoracic surgeon at the top of her expert game , well-versed in the medic’s art of triage, trade-offs, and life-or-death decisioning. A mother to eight-year old Zack, Anna is in the process of divorcing her lying husband Adam. A focused and steely-willed woman, Anna is also a deeply-burdened bundle of nerves, a perfectionist, and a secret victim to the hair-pulling compulsion of trichotillomania.
  • Margot Barnes, narrator number two, is a scrub nurse, a thief, a liar, a victim of abuse, and likely (in the opinion of this reader), a psychopath.
  • Inspector Rachel Conaty, our final narrator, is a fifty-ish homicide detective. A victim herself of a decades-old terrible crime, Rachel’s psychological recovery has not progressed – a situation which cannot help but impact her life professionally as well as personally.

As our protagonists scramble to cope with a situation already wildly out-of-control from the very onset, the thematic tension is clearly impossible to resolve.

Do no harm.

Or harm will be done.
(Brutally, wrathfully, and to someone you love).

Is there even a choice here?

An epic ride that is guaranteed to chill, entertain, fascinate and horrify, this read will not disappoint, leaving a thriller-lover sated and exhausted – senses still tumbling from the wild and monstrously thought-provoking journey.
